What a week! We just got back from the Scale Show in Barcelona, where we spent three days representing Lodgify, networking, learning, and—of course—having a lot of fun!
If you weren’t able to attend yourself, this event recap is for you. Keep reading to hear about our favorite moments from the conference!
But first, what is Scale?
For anyone who needs some context, Scale Rentals offers a “family” of leading short-term rental conferences and events all over the world. This week’s event was actually made up of two separate conferences:
- Scale Show on May 14-15
- Scale Open on May 16
The Scale Show is a two-day conference dedicated exclusively to professional short-term rental businesses managing 20 or more properties. This niche audience enables the event to focus specifically on helping businesses scale quickly, profitably, and sustainably with talks from industry experts, networking, and more.
As a follow-up to the Scale Show, Scale Rentals presents Scale Open the very next day. Scale Open offers the same great educational and networking opportunities for a wider audience of vacation rental hosts, managers, and investors.
All Scale Open attendees also got free access to the Book Direct Show, which occurs at the same time and in the same venue. As you might have guessed from its name, the Book Direct Show is all about helping vacation rental hosts and property managers generate more direct bookings.
Three days, three events, and countless insights!
Highlights of the event
A booth designed to impress
We were thrilled to be a sponsor of the event—not only because we wanted to support Scale, which does so much for our industry, but also because it enabled us to represent Lodgify with an impressive booth!
Throughout the event, you could find various Lodgify team members at our booth equipped with lots of swag and candy. Members of our Sales Team offered product demos to anyone interested in learning more about Lodgify, and on Wednesday our SEO & Content Manager Alberto Fernández also gave free SEO consulting sessions to anyone curious about how to optimize their website.
Two ways to capture conference memories
Think we stopped at a booth alone? Not a chance!
We also offered attendees the opportunity to capture their conference memories with both a photo booth and a caricaturist.
This wasn’t just any photo booth, but a full-length smart mirror with an integrated touch screen and digital display. Our caricaturist was unique, too, since they used a tablet to create caricatures rather than drawing with pen and paper.
Needless to say, attendees (and our team) had a lot of fun with both of these!
Sharing our expertise
We were also thrilled to get not one, but two opportunities to share our expertise at the event.
On Wednesday, our SEO & Content Manager Alberto Fernández gave a Ted Talk on the “quiet website syndrome,” addressing common reasons why vacation rental websites don’t get enough traffic.
Alberto’s top tips to make sure guests can find you? Choosing a unique brand name, integrating with Google Vacation Rentals, and publishing related organic content.
Then, on Thursday, our Head of Marketing Carla Chicharro gave a presentation on actionable SEO to transform your rental into an online booking magnet.
Carla started her presentation by covering the basics of what SEO is, why it’s important, and how it works. Then, she shared real-life examples of how Lodgify clients Chalets Hygge, Skol Apartments Marbella, and the Seventh Ray House use SEO to successfully drive online bookings.
Congratulations to both Alberto and Carla on their successful talks!
Until next year!
We had a great time at this year’s Scale Show and are already counting down the days till next year!
