FlipKey Reviews: Why Do You Need Them?

Reviews have a very big impact on both guests and hosts. It is through reading them that a lot of travelers decide whether they should book and travel to a particular property on FlipKey or not. For hosts, they also help to paint a picture of potential customers, which in turn allow them to make an informed decision when accepting or denying a booking request for their rentals.

Reviews need not be one-sided, as much as the traveler needs to evaluate a property, the host should also be allowed to do the same for the traveler. Which is why FlipKey encourages both travelers and hosts to leave a review for one another.

On the FlipKey listing website, traveler reviews are those made by the traveler about the property, and owner reviews are made by the owner of the customer.

Once the stay is over, the review process is initiated by one side (host or traveler), and then completed by the other (traveler or host). The process needs to be initiated by one side, and will then be completed by the other. When future travelers are looking for a property on FlipKey, they can apply a filter to see only high-rated properties, thus signifying the importance of traveler reviews.

Verified FlipKey Reviews

As important it is to write reviews in the first place, it’s equally important that the writing process is verified. FlipKey reviews cannot be written in minutes: if you are a traveler and wanting to review the property, you will first need your stay to be verified by a Flipkey owner. In order to this, you’ll need to have rented their property sometime in the last two years.

Once the owner verifies your stay, you can then post a comment. For transparency reasons, the owner will not be able to see the comment while verifying but will be able to respond to it once the revision is made public. FlipKey reviews are therefore a two-way process, which will be explained in detail below.

Writing a Review on FlipKey

To be able to write about rentals, the traveler needs to follow these steps:

  1. Select the option of Write a Review on the listing of the property you rented. This will lead you to TripAdvisor’s review page.
  2. On this page, you will be required to fill in a few necessary sections, including:
Verify the Stay; Rate this Vacation Rental; Write Your Review. Here you will also be given the option of adding photos if you wish to.
  3. Select the check box and verify the authenticity of your review.
  4. Select Submit.
  5. You will then have to log in to your TripAdvisor account, or any connected account to complete the review.

While reviewing, a traveler will have the freedom to comment on all aspects of the property, from booking to check-out, which is why hosts need to be very particular about the guest experience they are providing. One bad commentary can damage the vacation rental owner’s reputation, as once published, a review cannot be removed by the owner – they will only get the advantage of verifying the stay.

Checking FlipKey Reviews

When the review has been submitted, you will receive an email notification. Right after you have completed your revision, you cannot just go ahead and post it. It will first have to be checked by FlipKey moderators, to make sure it meets the necessary guidelines.

After it has been verified by FlipKey, it will be sent to the owner for their approval. This will not make the comment visible to them until it has gone live. Once it has gone live, everyone including the owner will be able to see it, and also comment on it.

The traveler will not get any kind of request from the owner to be able to comment on the post. A host can freely comment on the review by the guest, which they will be able to see only after it has been posted. For any special enquiry you can rely on Flipkey’s customer service, either via mail or by calling their phone number.
